Winter in Texas is mild and quite nice. Sometimes too cold, sometimes too hot. I have this feeling that I will never be quite satisfied with the weather. I don't feel too bad about it, though, since we're not native and even people who've lived here a long time complain about the weather. So, no guilt here!
We are really enjoying our house. It is so nice not to have to share walls with anyone and have many rooms to use throughout the day. My kitchen is a dream! I have a "house tour" planned for you. I'm sure it will be riveting. But one of the huge disadvantages is that there's always something to be done. This month it was having the trees trimmed- one in the backyard really needed a good hacking. It was leaning, off balance, and a lot of branches were hanging over the fence and intermingled with the supports for the utility pole in the corner of the yard. Hurricane season starts in April and we wanted to get the trees taken care of before that starts. But if it's not trees it's something else... always something else. ;)
We are starting to feel more comfortable here, but I still feel like we are visiting and it will all be over soon. But it's not a vacation, it won't be "over" because we live here and put down some serious roots. My goal for the next few months is to get stuff up on the walls. I think I will begin to feel much more settled once we are truly moved in.
Here are some pictures from the summertime- the kids are starting to become pretty good friends. I love those little buggers. Oh yes, they're adorable, but to put it politely, they are teaching me a lot of patience. They give the best hugs, though.
