Floral Design and Attempts to Crawl

So, I'm signed up to take a Floral Design class at BYU for some empty credits to graduate, and it's really fun! The worst part about it, though, is that I have to memorize the common and the botanical names of flowers... yeah, HARD. Some are easy, like rose=rosa, but then you have others like sunflower=helianthus and peruvian lily=alstroemeria (???). But the class has awesome bonuses, like getting flowers every week! Here's a glass cube design we did this week:

So pretty! I'm seriously loving this class! Oh, and my other classes are okay too, I guess. Haha.

In other news, Ben is making serious progress toward crawling. He's starting to get up on his knees, but I think it still scares him a little. Here are some pictures of his efforts:

He's so close! We think he'll have it in the next week, and if/when he does, we'll take a video so you can see him in action!

Ben has a brand-spanking-new tooth. It's SHARP. It really hurts when he bites, but chewing on things helps his gums feel better, so I can't complain.

However, this explains why he hasn't been sleeping through the night lately. (Oh, I know- poor us. He's been sleeping through the night since he was 2 months old). Last night, we gave him some teething medicine and he slept through the night again! Hooray! It's just hard when you get used to things being easy. :)

I'll try to get a picture of the renegade tooth (if he'll let me).

We went to California last month for a week and a half. Unfortunately, I'm a dork and couldn't find the camera for the last half of the trip (duhr, I'm dumb). Anyway, first we met my parents in Parker, AZ on the Colorado River for some R&R. Then we went to their house in Redondo Beach and we hung out there for a while. We also spent one of those days with Jessica, my best friend from high school. Plus, we took Ben to the beach! So fun! :) For the last half of our vacation, we went to Stephen's parent's house. While we were there, Kirstin got her endowments and we got to see some extended family. It was so nice to see everyone! Driving with a baby sure is an adventure. So here are some pictures for you!

Stephen and I on the river.

Ben in his cute rashguard (he got hardly any sun, which is incredible! yay!)

Grandma and Grandpa Hansen holding Ben in his life jacket. He kept falling asleep whenever the boat went fast- it was hilarious.

My sisters holding a disgruntled Ben. I thought this picture was funny. ;)

Ben's also had recent adventures with solid foods- it's hilarious! His reactions are so funny.

On a side note, my poor kitty, Mittens, was put down last week. She was blind and old, and it was time, but still. So sad.

Anyway, we're both in school this semester and looking forward to GRADUATING! WOO HOO! :)
